My Lakers shirt

I have a T-shirt from 1987/88 when the L.A. Lakers won the NBA finals. Yes, "have" - still - a 20 year old T-shirt. It's almost see through and I should likely stop wearing it but...

Anyway I wanted to tell a funny story about the year my Lakers won that Championship.

I went to the Jr. Prom during the finals and of course, as a pretty gigantic Lakers fan, was a bit concerned about missing the game on TV. So I called home a couple times to check the score. And got dumped for my troubles. Yep, my date broke things off because I interrupted our prom experience to check the score.

The funny thing is... he went on to play ball at a relatively high level and later apologized, admitting that in retrospect he probably wouldn't have even GONE to the prom.

I guess boys really DO mature slower. Even as sports fans.
