another opening night

Sometimes, as part of my job, I throw parties for more than 200 people. I threw a good (great!) party last night. Everyone seems to have that happy, satistfied kind of a hangover. Admittedly it's always a schmoozefest. A room full of well-wishers. If the party goes late it bodes well for the show. Later is better. It means people liked it and are willing to stick around and be a bit less guarded in their conversations.

No one is going to stick around and talk and drink if they didn't like the show. That's not how opening night works. People say good things, congratulations and generally keep their criticism to themselves until a more appropriate time. Those parties don't go late and are generally uncomfortable.

This one was the opposite of that. It was a good one. Lots a warm wishes, good nature and laughter. Good show, good night... the best kind!
